OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an advanced imaging technology that provides highly detailed, cross-sectional images of the retina. This non-invasive procedure allows our optometrists to examine the different layers of the retina with exceptional clarity, enabling early detection and management of various eye conditions.

What is OCT?

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye. OCT provides detailed images of the retina's layers, allowing our optometrists to detect changes to the eye's structure and identify early signs of eye diseases.

The OCT Examination Process

During an OCT examination at RA Glass, you can expect a comfortable and straightforward process. Initially, we will take a comprehensive history of your eye health and any vision issues you may be experiencing. This helps us tailor the examination to your specific needs.

You will then be seated in front of the OCT machine, where you will rest your chin on a support to keep your head still. The machine scans your eye without touching it, using light waves to capture detailed images of your retina. The scan is quick, painless, and typically takes only a few minutes.

Understanding Your OCT Results

After the scan, our optometrists will review the detailed images of your retina. We will explain the results to you, highlighting any areas of concern and discussing the best course of action if treatment or monitoring is needed. Our goal is to ensure you understand your eye health and feel confident in the care you receive.
